Help & limits

Make your first packet

  1. Inspect the 24-piece country-loaf example. Its base formula is 800 g direct flour, 500 g direct water, 20 g salt and 400 g already-mixed levain (200 g flour + 200 g water).
  2. Replace those entries with your own gram formula. Enter only flour and water composition for the amount of each already-mixed preferment that you will consume. Do not add the same components as direct ingredients.
  3. Enter an integer number of pieces, unbaked dough grams per piece, your established dough mass limit per bowl, and one increment your scale supports.
  4. Select Apply formula & rebuild packet. Review each bowl’s physical additions, exact grams and rounding differences. Check off actual weighing work as needed.
  5. Review the revision, choose up to 25 bowls and print on A4 or Letter at 100% with browser headers and footers off. Inspect the saved PDF or paper; opening a print dialog is not proof that printing succeeded.

The worked example

24 × 500 g needs 12,000 g. A 5,000 g cap holds ten whole pieces, so the balanced plan has three bowls of eight pieces. At a 1 g increment each bowl weighs 1,860 g flour, 1,163 g water, 47 g salt and 930 g premixed levain. The levain contains 465 g flour + 465 g water; do not weigh those again. Physical total: exactly 4,000 g.

What rounding does

Each exact physical addition is rounded down to scale units. Remaining units go to the largest fractional remainders, with stable ingredient IDs breaking ties. Each difference is strictly less than one increment. The total matches the nominal bowl mass exactly. Ingredient ratios may change slightly.

A positive amount allocated to zero blocks print readiness. The app never assumes you own a finer scale. Each bowl target must be a whole multiple of the selected increment. Preferment composition follows its allocated premixed mass in exact proportion; fractions in that audit are not separate weighing instructions.

Save, restore and start another run

Valid rebuilds and checkmarks save on this device, with a visible read-back-verified status and one prior snapshot. Edits lock the prior packet immediately. A valid rebuild clears its old checkmarks. Invalid edits do not replace the committed packet; use Discard edits to recover it with all checkmarks intact, or correct the inputs and rebuild. Duplicate creates a new project ID and clears checkmarks.

Download backup saves the committed formula, target, stable IDs, revision and checkmarks as versioned JSON. Restore previews and validates everything in temporary memory, then creates a new copy; its calculation and results are recomputed. Imported checkmarks are carried across to the new project ID. Review is always required again. A failed restore does not replace your project. Current backups use compact v2 checkmarks; legacy v1 backups are recovered without dropping checks. The recipe schema and exact calculation remain version 1. Other versions are rejected.

Use Recover prior save to preview the previous successfully saved snapshot as a new copy. Export a backup before switching runs. One current project and one prior snapshot are retained locally; this is not a multi-project library.

Bounded inputs

At most 60 direct/component rows in total, four preferments, 10,000 pieces and 1,000 bowls. Each entered mass is 0–1,000,000 g with at most three decimal places; piece mass and cap must be positive, and entered flour must be positive. Supported increments are 1, 0.1, 0.01 and 0.001 g. Names allow up to 80 characters. Current backups remain limited to 1 MB. All 60,000 possible checkmarks use at most 15,000 hexadecimal characters. Legacy v1 recovery alone accepts up to 12 MB, still enforcing every project limit and at most 60,000 unique valid checks, then converts to the compact format. Oversized files and duplicate, unsafe or out-of-packet data are rejected without replacing your project. Grand totals are up to 10,000,000,000 g as arithmetic only, not an operational endorsement.

The largest dataset is a computational ceiling. Performance on a physical mid-range phone is not yet validated; do not treat that ceiling as a proven mobile capacity. Print jobs are limited to 25 bowls. Up to six physical rows and two preferment audits per bowl page keep long names and exact fractions readable; larger bowls continue on numbered sheets.

Scope

For adult bakers with an existing gram formula and their own established bowl cap. One recipe and one piece size per project. No fresh preferment-build instructions, nested builds, partial-use builds, volume-to-mass conversion, machine recommendations, fermentation guidance, temperatures, food-safety advice, allergens, nutrition, labels, prices, timers or baked-yield estimates. Milk, eggs, butter and inclusions are carried as “other” mass; their water content is not inferred.

Keyboard

Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between named controls, Enter to submit the formula, Space to toggle checkboxes, and standard select keys to inspect bowls. A skip link leads to the formula. Changed or blocked packets cannot be printed through the app; direct browser printing shows a blocked message unless the current revision is reviewed.
